Due to the concern of alarming levels of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading across the globe, as of March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization has officially declared the Coronavirus outbreak a global pandemic. If you have not done so already, be sure to check with your IT provider to determine the best course of action for your business. Here are some questions to consider while evaluating your services:
- Is there an ample number of mobile devices and laptops for employees to utilize?
- Do your employees have access to cloud services or the capability to access a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?
- If telework is an option, do employees have high-speed Internet access that will allow them to effectively and efficiently work outside of the office?
- Do employees have access to the software needed to successfully do their jobs?
- Will employees have access to traditional office equipment if needed (i.e. printer or scanner)?
- Does your business have Telecommuting Policy in place that sets expectations for individuals who may be working offsite?
- Are communication platforms in place to connect with your team as needed?
- Has a communication schedule been developed to ensure no one is left in the dark while working in separate locations?
